Built Together for Battle

The following is from the upcoming devotional “Step by Step through the Bible”

Day 339 — December 5

Read Acts 28; Ephesians 1–2

“We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.” — Ephesians 2:21–22 (NLT)

Ephesians is known for its teaching on spiritual warfare, but the battleground begins long before chapter 6. It starts in relationships—where unity, humility, and love are tested daily.

Paul reminds us that in Christ, Jews and Gentiles are joined together as one temple—a spiritual house where God dwells. That unity is what the enemy attacks most. When we forget our position “in Christ,” we start fighting each other instead of standing together.

Knowing who we are and where we stand changes how we pray. Spiritual power flows from spiritual identity. When we walk in unity and depend on the Spirit, God’s power pushes back the darkness.

Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see the real battle. Help me stand firm in who I am in Christ and walk in unity with others, so Your power can work through me, in Jesus’ Name.
