Do you ever need a perspective change?
Do you ever have conversations with people and come out seeing the world a little different? Do small things in life ever turn out to be bigger then you thought? Have you ever wondered how God might perceive things?
Let’s read John Chapter 2. But before you do, take off the lenses of everything you have been taught and thought before, and read the words as they are, like its the first time. Read it through the eyes of the disciples and other individuals in the story, so that you can ask why Jesus reacted or responded the way He did.

While we are not given many details about the wedding, it is clear it is important. We quickly learn there was not enough wine, which would have become a big problem.
What were the hosts experiencing? Do you think the they anticipated running out of wine, or did they assume they had enough? Perhaps it did not seem like that big of a problem at first.
Why did Mary get involved? She probably had compassion; she also knew that it was not such a big problem for Jesus to fix.
How do you think the servants saw everything? Did they think Jesus and His mother were crazy? Water! He told them to go get water! Were they scared? Would this big problem get worse, with them getting in trouble?
Why do you think Jesus did it? Was it out of compassion for them or obedience to his mother? Maybe he saw the faith of his mother and the heart of the Father in her. Whatever the reason, He turned water into wine and saved the hosts from embarrassment.
What might have seemed a small problem at first, turned into a big problem, though it was really nothing at all for our almighty God.
How do we keep our situations from blowing out of proportion? How do we see things like Mary did?
We keep our eyes on God and trust Him to know what is best.
Have you been in a situation that seemed hopeless until God stepped in? We would love to her about it; please share your stories with us in the comments.
