Are you ever glad that God knows better and is bigger than us? Believe me I am!
God often gives me a verse to cling to for the new year, and one year it was Isaiah 55:8-9:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
I actually can’t remember what I was going though that year but I that verse never left me. There are often times now that I will be all stressed out or confused, yet God keeps emphasizing that He’s got me and my situations. I know He is holding everything in His hands; all I have to do is trust Him and follow His leading.
My friend once told me a verse that helps her not to worry:
Luke 10:41-42 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed…”
Sometimes our focus gets put on the wrong things and everything gets blown out of proportion. If our eyes are focused on Him and His perspective, problems seem to get smaller somehow.
So, what are you so focused on that you are overwhelmed? Has it been hard to see anything else except the worry? What is God speaking to you about what He knows and can do?
God gives us a solution.
Philippians 4:6-8 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
How are you reminding yourself not to worry? What verses comfort you when you are stressed or anxious? I used to have this verse taped to my wall. If you don’t have a verse or reminder of some kind, I suggest you ask God what He has for you. Tell us in the comments want verses you think of to remind yourself of God’s greatness and that we don’t need to worry because He is in control. We would love to hear and find new verses to cling to!
