How much of the Bible have you actually read? Do you understand the how it all connects and is woven together?
In Richmond, we just finished one of our schools, the Discipleship Bible School, and I visited to celebrate with them. One requirement of the school is each student gives a summary of the whole Bible is about 45 minutes. They share about the character of God, specific stories, things they learned, and other elements that are required.
It is really a beautiful thing to hear and understand the whole story from beginning to end.
They learned a lot of background of the books in the Bible. One thing that you might not realize is how amazing it is to know the culture and history of the times and surroundings; it really helps you understand more of the stories from the Bible. It even shows more of God’s love in the stories.
If you ever get the chance to learn any of the history that surrounds the Bible or the culture of the times, I would highly encourage you to learn. In fact, we offer many opportunities — in person and online — that can help; I’ll share a couple below. I would even challenge you this week to learn something new about whatever you are currently reading in the Bible, and as always please share what you learned!
