Truths to hold on to (Part 4)

Let’s continue working on defeating the lies we’ve been believing.

Do you remember the steps from the first blog (Truths to Hold On To)?

  1. Identify the lie the enemy fed you.
  2. Find the truths in God’s Word and what He has spoken to you.
  3. Speak or pray those truths out loud until you believe them and act in that belief.
  4. Rebuke the enemy.
  5. Thank God for anything and everything.

Today, let’s look at Psalm 63.

Psalm 63

1O God, you are my God;

I earnestly search for you.

My soul thirsts for you;

my whole body longs for you

in this parched and weary land

where there is no water.

2I have seen you in your sanctuary

and gazed upon your power and glory.

3Your unfailing love is better than life itself;

how I praise you!

4I will praise you as long as I live,

lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

5You satisfy me more than the richest feast.

I will praise you with songs of joy.

6I lie awake thinking of you,

meditating on you through the night.

7Because you are my helper,

I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.

8I cling to you;

your strong right hand holds me securely.

9But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin.

They will go down into the depths of the earth.

10They will die by the sword

and become the food of jackals.

11But the king will rejoice in God.

All who swear to tell the truth will praise him,

while liars will be silenced.

Declarations for this week:

  • He is My God
  • Power and glory are His
  • Your unfailing love is better than life
  • I Chose to praise You
  • He is satisfying
  • He is worth my praise
  • He is worth thinking on
  • He is worth falling in love with
  • He is my helper
  • I chose to cling to You
  • He holds me securely
  • You enemy will lose
  • You Liars (enemy and demons) will be silenced

Now, I did things a little differently this time because this chapter had so much good stuff in it. It may not have had your identity truths in it, but it had actions you could choose. These things are good to declare over your life because they give your mind and heart an adjustment. And praying them lets God soften your resolve to not do them. It is the action of stepping out in faith.

Have you ever not wanted to do something but determined to do it anyway? You may tell yourself, “I can do this,” take a deep breath, and plunge into whatever it was. But somewhere in the process you had to make a choice, and then you had to make the choice to take the first step. So, make the choice to act in faith.

The other thing I did differently was look at the actions of the writer and draw out who God was from those actions. If the writer was thinking about God in the middle of the night, then God must be that amazing. So, He is worth thinking about. And you know you only stay awake thinking of someone if you like them a lot or are falling in love with them (well, unless they are stressing you out—but I don’t think that’s what this is talking about, lol). And if you are going to praise Him, then He must be worthy of it. You get the idea.

What was your favorite part of this Scripture? Why? Where have you seen Him in your life as any of these things in the past? Please share with us. Have a good week, everyone.
