What does it mean for God to be “infinite”?

Have you ever not trusted God’s ability to do things? What does it mean to you for God to be infinite? Do you actually live like this is His identity?

We are going to do this a little different this time. Get out your Bibles and get ready: I am going to let you answer for yourselves want it means for God to be infinite.

We are going to start in, Isaiah 44.  Go ahead and read it now.

…

What sticks out to you in this passage?

What does it say about God’s character and abilities? What kind of resources does He have and give?

This chapter is either God telling us His character or Isaiah describing it; how did He actually show us Himself in these ways?

Here are some more verses that helps us see God’s character:

  • Elisha see the armies of the Lords angels: 2 Kings 6:17
  • Jesus heals the crippled man and forgives his sins: Mark 2:1-12
  • God created with his words and God said let there be light, saying it was good: Genesis 1
  • God can bring the dead back to life and creates new thing out of nothing: Romans 4:17
  • “I am El Shaddai God almighty”: Genesis 17:1

How does God compare to the idols and to man in these passages?

I feel a good place to end is by reading Job 38.

Job is finally answered by God after all His questions and God makes him think for Himself, as if asking “are you sure you really understand and know me?”

Would you discredit my justice?

Would you condemn me to justify yourself?

Do you have an arm like God’s,

and can your voice thunder like his?

Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor,

and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.

Job 40:8-10
